Chapter 17

“Just hold him a little longer.” Thomas encouraged the green dragon as they landed. Rishad’s eyes were watering.
“The Higherrups will see you now.” said a blue dragon. Thomas and Rishad walked in and saw waiting faces.
“Come in,” a voice said with a twinge of annoyance. “why did you request a meeting with the council?”
“Um well,” Thomas said nervously as he walked up to the row of five dragons. The middle one was a magnificent gold dragon that had age to himself. The two to his right were a dark brown they looked like twins. The green dragon to the far left looked younger than the other Higherrups he also looked like he was related to Rishad. The dragoness in between the gold dragon and the green dragon was a teal-ish green.
“Um… Rishad and I have um we uh…”
“Spit it out young one we haven’t all day.” the dragoness instructed.
“We found him.” Thomas said he got a sigh from the teal dragon. The golden dragon straightened up.
“We have been patient with you both, but this has gone too far.”
“But-” the orange dragon started to protest.
“And if you even found the on of Scales and Flesh then where is he.”
There was some small muffled shouting followed by a choking sound. Everyone turned their head to face Rishad looked like he was trying to get something dislodged from his throat. Thomas held the look of fear and horror on his face. The teal dragoness had disgust painted on her scaly features. The gold dragon looked like he was going to snap. The twins had disbelief written on their faces. The green dragon facepalmed himself. “Why, brother?”
With a hoarse cough, Lucaus came flying out of Rishad’s mouth and hit the ground with a wet smack. Everyone watched the slime covered human get up and started shouting at the green dragon.
“I told you not to swallow me,” Lucaus yelled flinging spit everywhere. “That’s the last time I-” Lucaus saw where he was and instantly shut up.
The golden dragon sneared. “So you think that, that human is dragon and is able to save Crevvis and Earth?” Rishad nodded confidently. “Ha!” the council leader laughed. “That fleshing couldn't even hurt a fly.” There were nods of agreement. “I have not time for this. Get out and return that welp to Earth.” Lucaus filled with anger. “We are done here.” the golden dragon turned to leave.
“No we are not done!” Lucaus shouted with anger. All the dragons in the room looked at how the lead Higherrup reacted. Lucaus continued to shout. “I did not almost kill someone, skip school, or narrowly miss my date with the Grim Reaper to be told that I am not what I was told that I was meant to be!”
The gold winged lizard turned around growling. “Fine then let us see if you are what you’re meant to be.” Thomas and Rishad backed away.
“You're on your own this time Lucaus.”
Lucaus stood there worried but the feeling changed as he felt a sudden rush of energy flow through his veins sharpening his senses. He could feel his eyes flood over as his vision sharpened. He sniffled as his smell increased. There was a ping in Lucaus’s ears as his hearing became keener. The fifteen year old closed his eyes and concentrated on his hearing, there was the faintest sound of flapping on his 3o’clock  side fifteen feet in the air.
The sound of crackling heat made Lucaus open his eyes, a fireball flew down towards him. Quick reflexes had the boy jumping out of the way before he could be incinerated. Another ball came Lucaus’s way but avoided it too.
“Your quick,” the dragon growled. “but you won’t be quick enough.” the golden dragon then came down fact and went slamming for Lucaus. As the council leader was almost on top of him, the boy’s body knew what to do. Lucaus automatically did two backflips dodging the golden dragon’s attack.
The dragon swung his razor sharp claws at the boy, but Lucaus narrowly avoided them. The next attack he wasn’t so fortunate. The council leader swiped his tail at Lucaus. Lucaus jumped to dodge it, but he was too late. The golden tail hit his side and sent him flying.
The boy flipped a few times while flying through the air. He leveled out, as he started to hit the ground he slid in a crouched position grabbing the ground to help slow his momentum. Lucaus was breathing hard in disbelief of what just happened.
The fifteen year old boy looked straight into the golden dragons eyes and saw fear, the golden dragon noticed. With that the council leader shot a giant ball of fire that hit Lucaus and exploded. Everyone eyed the smoke intently waiting for it to settle to see what was left of Lucaus. Rishad and Thomas feared for the worse. The others were surprised at their leaders actions. The golden dragon spoke as if he was unsure of what he was saying. “See,” he huffed. “I told you he was just a mere human.” He started to turn away then he heard what could only be foot steps. The golden dragon looked toward the smoke with confusion and horror.
There was a silhouette that walked to the edge of the smoke and stopped. As the grey screen cleared there stood Lucaus unscaved eyebrows set and face hard. The emotion of courage filled his eyes and struck fear into the dragon’s heart.
“Argh! Why haven’t you died!” the golden dragon screamed as his mind filled with rage. He shot a fireball at Lucaus. The boy jumped side ways dodging it. He Started to run straight for the gold dragon.
Fireball after fireball Lucaus jumped dodging it while still running for the enraged beast. The golden dragon shot a fireball at the boy’s feet. The fifteen year old jumped just as the inferno hit the ground. He used the power of the blast to get high into the air. Lucaus’s pendant somehow made it out of his shirt and it was shining brightly.
The Higherrup’s leader was filled with rage, he wanted Lucaus dead. “I will end you!” he shrieked in mad anger and fear. Everyone turned to see the dragon tilt its head back and form a black and dark purple blob in his mouth. Rishad feared the worse.
“Dark Breath.” he breathed.
“What’s Dark Breath?” Thomas asked quietly still watching the golden dragon.
“A powerful attack that no living thing could ever survive.” he told him grimly.
The golden dragon flung his head forward releasing the purple ball. The darkness enveloped Lucaus and kept him  floating there. Lucaus felt the darkness creep around him. As it seeped inside of him, his courage turned to fear. He screamed in pain as the vile substance started to tear him apart. Lucaus curled into a feeble, little ball. He was on the verge of breaking when a suddenly felt an immense power exploded inside of him. The boy’s pendant shined as bright as the sun. The teardrop shaped item shot forth numerous beams of light of brilliant light that started to spin around his body. Lucaus scrunched his body inward holding the magnificent power inside until he couldn’t anymore. He sprang his arms and legs out. As he uncurled his body the light exploded out of himself like that of a supernova exploding in outer space. The light from the blast dissipated the darkness and knocked all the unsuspecting dragons over.
All the dragons looked up in awe. The golden dragon was petrified. A new light emitted from the pendant it was a gold yellow that surrounded Lucaus.
Lucaus Balvair felt his body change. His face elongated and formed into a long muzzle. The boy’s neck stretched out as his body bulged and grew. Lucaus’s arms and Legs grew to match the size proportions of his body. Razor sharp claws protruded from his now four fingered front paws. Three big claws grew from each back paw. Big wings jutted from in between his shoulder blades, and a thick tail sprung from his lower back above his butt. Lucaus’s clothes had been torn and replaced by tough skin and a layer of protective scales. The upper body scales were a nice even blue. Three red stripes went from the end of his muzzle to the bottom of his eyes. Two red stripes were hidden by red and tan hair that hung over the upper back jaw. Along row of stripes ran from his neck down his back to the end of his tail. His under scales started from his bottom jaw to the underside of his tail were tan colored. Lucaus’s wings were a light tan on the underside of them but on the topside they were a light blue. He had two horns one on either side of his head.
Everyone was speechless and eyes wide like saucers, what was once a beaten, broken human boy was now a magnificent dragon. when Lucaus spoke he spoke with a bolder and stronger voice.
“I am Lucaus Balvair son of Jhone Balvair the dragon and Sara Wilfern the human. I am the one destined to save Crevvis and Earth.” Lucaus  turned to the Higherrups leader and looked straight into his eyes burning a hole of shame in his soul. Lucaus then held his head high and proudly said. “I am the one of Scales and Flesh.”
